Mutya Buena, the youngest member of the Sugababes grew up in Kingbury, London and went to the same primary school as Keisha Buchanan. She started singing at age 11, but her earliest memories are as she was 6 years performing in front of 2000 people. Finally Mutya, Keisha and the original member Siobhan Donaghy founded the Sugababes in 1998.

Soon after in 2000 they released their first album "One Touch"  and their first single "Overload" . While they were on tour in Japan Siobhan left the group, but was replaced by Heidi Range - a former member of Atomic Kitten. The band was droped by London Records and moved to a new label in autumn 2001, signing to Universal, and making sure that this time their creative input would be fully attended to. Their 2nd Album "Angels With Dirty Faces"  was released in August 2002 and is now double platinum in the UK and got platinum for the european-wide sales too. It spawned the number one singles "Freak like Me"  and "Round Round" . They hit the US-sales-charts with "Hole in the Head"  taken from their 3rd Album "Three" , which got tripple platinum too.

Mutya got pregnant with her first child from her year-long boyfriend Jay and gave birth to the little girl - she named her Tahlia Maya Buena - in March 2005.

Soon after that the Sugababes finished their 4th Album "Taller in more Ways"  which was released in Oktober 2005. It straight went to No.1 in the Uk-album charts while their 1st single of this album "Push the Button"  was in its 3rd week still No.1 in the UK. "Push the Button"  is their most successful single with Mutya. It stayed at No.1 in in the UK- charts for 3 weeks, in the Austrian Single-charts for 5 weeks and got top10 rankings in the year-end-charts of many countries.

Mutya quitted the Sugababes after seven years while their promotiontour of "Ugly" , their 2nd Single from "Taller in more Ways"  coz of personal reasons. It was rumored that she wanted to have more time for her little girl, true, but enterly she wanted a change in her life. After a weeks rumor it was official announced on 21st December 2005. The babes' management announced the new member Amelle Berrabah allready the next day. Mutya has a great fanbase and she won't be forgotten as a member of the 'babes. She will allways be a Sugababes in the fans' hearts.

After leaving the Sugababes, Mutya signed a solo-contract at Universal Island Records and is now ready to launch her solo-career.

Beeing a mum has calmed Mutya down. She now wakes up at night when she used to come home from parties... But she has still her 12 piercings - four in each ear, one above her lipps, one in her toungh and one in the right side of her nose. Mutya also has a lot of tattoos. A colored rose on her left boob, a lion on her left shoulder, on her tummy she has tattooed "Maya" (RIP), a colored picture of a lady on her right leg. On her left arm "Buena" and a black heart with wings, on her right arm a chinese symbol, .... she also has "Tahlia", the name of her daughter tattooed on her right arm. Mutya loves to go out partying same like she loves to lay back and relax. She is also a faboulous cook, but she doesn't like onion and garlic


funny things:

"Mutya" is not part of her real name. Her father gave her the name and it means "Princess"

She make trouble about the thing who may sit in the front of the car.

when she was young her 4 older brothers were constantly telling her to shut up when she sang.

when the Sugababes named their band she came up with the name "Q-teens"
some time later she was asked by a Fan if she could help her nameing her band. The girl was really happy about Mutya's suggestion "Q-teens"
